CATALYST Works
   Providing Unlimited Educational Opportunities
CATALYST makes the news in Jamaican media
. . . The programme helps students in several ways. They help the needy with school fees and train mentors. They also donated several books to the Homework Centre's library on Tower Street. But most of all what the programme seeks to do each year is prepare students for tertiary education and help them find scholarships . . .

. . . Ramone Williams, a fifth former at St. Georges College, is now a student in the programme. He is from Parade Gardens in Kingston where the homework programme operates. He is a straight 'A' student who wants to be a computer engineer. The help from Catalyst is making that dream seem possible . . .

CATALYST Expands - Coming Soon!
CATALYST Alumnus, April Brown has a private session with Chantol.
What makes me stand out among my peers is the fact that I am determined to get things done and allow nothing to get me down. "

Chantol's medical condition may at times slow her down but, at the end of the day she always gets up. In the future, she hopes to be a Biochemist, after which she may make a transition to a Chartered Accountant in her own firm.

Like Chantelle, Chantol is about to begin her the college application process. Way to go, Chantol!

Christine Granston

Christine’s application of the phrase - “I can, I can, I can do anything” - to her life has resulted in her being a high achiever. She attends Excelsior High School where she is currently pursuing a variety of subjects, including Information Technology, Mathematics, History and Spanish, with the hope that she may one day be an Accountant.

In her spear time, she enjoys watching television, reading, listening to music and sewing. She is a distinguished member of the
CATALYST Photography Club, as she has won several prizes in the contests held. At her school, she is a member of the Key and the Environmental Club. She also enjoys playing badminton.

Like majority - if not all - of the student on the Program, she is faced with the problem of crime and violence, illegal drugs, school drop-outs and other socio-economic problems. These are the problems our students are encountered with on a daily basis, and
CATALYST tries to provide them with "a way out". The students know to escape such atrocities and Christine is no different. CATALYST guides them on their path. Another motivating factor behind Christine is that she has many persons she can count on.

Christopher Rose

Like all the other students, Christopher has the potential to do great things. He is a Grade 11 student at Wolmer’s Boys’ High School, preparing for his CSEC exams. His favorite subjects are English Language, Geography, Information Technology and Spanish. He also enjoys playing football, volleyball and hockey. His thirst for adventure is reflected in him wanting to be a Commercial Pilot.

Christopher is included in the present batch of students preparing to take the SAT and to start the college application process.
